Overview

The Royal Oak Inn dates from the mid 17th century and is situated in the peaceful village of Gillamoor, set within the beautiful North York Moors National Park.


The Inn is a grade II listed building of traditional style featuring an oak beamed bar with two open log fires. There is a comfortable and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy the excellent cuisine which is all cooked fresh to order.

The accommodation provided is of the highest standard. All bedrooms are centrally heated and are en-suite with either a bath or shower, also having colour television, radio and tea/coffee making facilities to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Besides endless walking through fabulous countryside, Ryedale's many attractions include: Ryedale Folk Museum, North Yorks Moors Steam Railway, Rievaulx and Byland Abbeys, Nunnington Hall, Eden Camp, golf courses and the stately homes of Duncombe Park and Castle Howard.

Also within 30 miles: Whitby - where the spectacular Abbey ruins overlook the harbour and the town where the famous Jet shops nestle. Scarborough - with it's castle on the headland separating the north and south bays. York - the stunning Minster, The Shambles, Jorvik, York Dungeon, river trips and ghost tours - steeped in history!

Short breaks are available all year round for two nights or more, giving you plenty of time to sample some of the above.
